BUENA PARK, Calif. ― Only three of the nine affordable homes built as the result of a unique public-private partnership between the City of Buena Park and a private developer remain.

Six of the energy-efficient homes, built in the California Craftsman style, are in escrow, according to representatives of the city and RSI Development. The project is called The New House Buena Park 9.

The three remaining single-family detached homes, all on Franklin Street in Buena Park, have modern luxury fixtures that include granite kitchen countertops, stainless steel appliances and marble bathroom countertops.

One model remaining is 1,621 square feet and has three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. It is priced at $354,500. The other two homes each have four bedrooms and three bathrooms in 1,968 square feet.

Because of the city’s provision of land and RSI Development’s construction process, these homes are priced $150,000 to $200,000 below other new homes nearby. Prospective homeowners must meet eligibility requirements to buy a home.

“RSI Development is focused on continually reducing the cost of building a home, which is in complete alignment with our mission to provide hard working families the opportunity to purchase high-quality, energy efficient and sustainable homes at affordable prices,” said Eric VanDerHeyden, executive vice president of RSI Development. “The success of The New House Buena Park 9 program demonstrates how we work closely with cities and government agencies to extend homeownership opportunities to those who have previously been unable to realize the American Dream.”
