E-cigarette smokers are chasing clouds

Having one’s head in the clouds has taken on new meaning as a Vapor Cigarette trend picks up popularity.

It’s called “cloud chasing,” and its goal is to produce big, thick, white plumes of vapor.

“It’s a sport. It’s about, how big can you make the cloud,” said Kris Poma, manager of Vanity Vapor at 6670 W. Cactus Road, Glendale.

“Cloud chasers” aren’t necessarily drawn to the nicotine contained in vapor, a main lure for e-cigarette users who are trying to curb the regular cigarette habit.

“Most don’t even use nicotine,” said Poma, whose shop opened six months ago.

Vanity Vapor is one of several vapor cigarette shops, that, in effect, are chasing cloud chasers, Poma said.

Her store holds classes every two weeks on how to create the “mod” or “build” inside an electronic cigarette that can produce luminous large puffs.

At least two West Valley competitors also offer tables and materials where cloud chasers can build, Poma said.
