WESTMINSTER – Firefighters, officers and emergency medical technicians will host a fundraiser Sunday in Westminster to support the family of a 12-year-old girl who died after their vehicle was struck by a driver fleeing from police April 3.
A friend of the family confirmed this image, left at a memorial at the site of an April 4, 2014, fatal collision in Westminster, showed 12-year-old victim Vivian Nguyen.
Donations for the surviving family members of Vivian Nguyen will be accepted from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday by volunteers standing on the roadside at Bolsa Avenue and Magnolia Street and at Bolsa Avenue and Goldenwest Street.
Hosted by the Orange County Fire Authority, the Westminster Police Department and Shoreline Ambulance, the event is a “fill the boot” fundraiser, in which drivers or pedestrians can drop by and place donations in “turnout” boots held by the volunteers.
“People can just drive by and throw money in the boot,” said OCFA Capt. Steve Concialdi.
