A federal grand jury has indicted an upstate New York woman on charges relating to allegedly providing guns to a man who used them to kill two firefighters and wound two others.
The woman, 24-year-old Dawn Nguyen of Greece, N.Y., is alleged to have provided the guns to William Spengler Jr., who authorities said set fire to his Rochester-area home then waited for firefighters to arrive and ambush them. Spengler then killed himself.
Nguyen is charged with selling weapons to Spengler, a felon; possessing firearms while being an illegal marijuana user; and making false statements about buying the firearms.
She faces a prison sentence of as long as 30 years if convicted.
According to the indictment, Nguyen lied as she bought the guns in 2010, which authorities said she purchased specifically to transfer to Spengler. The weapons were a Bushmaster semiautomatic rifle and a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun.
