Step out with a fresh face and you’re the pretty girl next door. Step out with that same face, eyebrow rings, and washed-out nails and you become the pretty cool girl next door. “We wanted the models to be beautiful and cool without being too complicated,” said James Kaliardos, the lead makeup artist at Rodarte this morning. And yes, the makeup was minimal and flawless, but it was the stacks of eyebrow rings that got everyone’s attention.

While Kaliardos played coy when asked about the rings (calling them an “industry secret”), I’m pretty sure you can buy temporary facial jewelry at the Spencer’s down the block. Kaliardos did reiterate that the rings were more of an accessory than a punk statement. And the face they were accessorizing was definitely pretty and youthful. Kaliardos applied a boysenberry shadow (Nars St. Paul de Vence Duo Eyeshadow) to the eyes and cheeks to create the vibrant look. “It’s about adding health and color to the face, and less about contouring,” he explained. He swiped on a lengthening mascara and used a beige eye pencil on the inner waterline to create the illusion of bigger eyes.
