NGUOI VIET 2

The Vietnamese population outnumbers all other Asian groups in five states, according to a detailed report recently released by the U.S. Census Bureau.

Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska and Oklahoma were named in “The Asian Population: 2010” as the states with the highest number of Vietnamese among the Asian population.

Also, according to the report, the Asian population was the fastest-growing of all races between 2000 and 2010, growing by 43 percent. Nevada had the highest rate of growth at 116 percent, followed by Arizona (95 percent), North Carolina and North Dakota (85 percent), and Georgia (83 percent.)

And it should come as no surprise that the places with the highest population of Asians, including those who list themselves as Asians combined with another race, were New York City (1.1 million) and Los Angeles (484,000). Six of the 10 locations with the largest Asian populations were located in the west: Los Angeles, San Jose, San Francisco, San Diego, Honolulu, and Fremont, Calif.

The report contains several charts and maps detailing the population shifts and numbers. It is available at http://www.census.gov/prod/cen2010/briefs/c2010br-11.pdf
