CARDENAS AMONG WINNERS IN ALAMEDA TENNIS TOURNAMENT



Bryan Cardenas won the Men’s Singles 40-4.5 title in the 100th Annual City of Alameda Tennis Tournament on Sept. 7-8 at the Fairfield Tennis Courts at Washington Park. Cardenas defeated Luis Hernandez 6-3, 6-1 in the final. Omar Ted Panugaling defeated Edgar Setton 6-0, 6-1 in the Men’s Singles 3.5 or below final. Cardenas and Alfred Feria won the Men’s Doubles 4.0-4.5 title. Paul Nguyen and John Nguyen won the Men’s Doubles 3.5 or below title.

RABB TO ATTEND USA BASKETBALL CAMP



Bishop O’Dowd High boys basketball star Ivan Rabb will be among 35 players who will attend an October mini-camp of the 2013-14 USA Basketball Men’s Developmental National Team. The camp will take place on Oct. 5-6 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Rabb, a 6-foot-9 junior power forward, is one of only four Californians among the 35 players and the only Northern California player.
