GGUSD to host seminar on bullying, cyberbullying

Parents of students enrolled in the Garden Grove Unified School District can learn effective methods for keeping children safe from bullying and cyberbullying at a free parenting seminar scheduled for Oct. 30. The workshop takes place at 6 p.m. in the gymnasium at Garden Grove High School, 11271 Stanford Ave., Garden Grove.


The program, titled “The Power of Parents: Bullying and Cyberbullying,” features guest speaker Christine Laehle, program specialist for school safety and violence prevention from the Orange County Department of Education. She will explore the common forms of bullying and cyberbullying, the impact of social networking websites, and strategies for protecting children from threatening peers.


All presentations are in English with interpretation in Vietnamese, Spanish and Korean. The community and all family members are invited.


Information and resources will be available from representatives of partner community agencies including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove, Community Services Program, Garden Grove Police Department, and local family resource centers. A district administrator, a clinical psychologist, and a representative from Garden Grove police will also be attending to answer questions.


Free child care is being provided for children ages 2 to12.
