According to a new study, two fifths of British women are now watching their way to better beauty techniques, making us very much a part of the beauty video, or ‘vlogging’, machine that can now count 700 million hits a month worldwide.

In a survey by vouchercloud.com 41 per cent of women in the UK revealed that they’re now choosing to watch online beauty tutorials to pick up their tips and tricks – 61 per cent of those women saying that they’re tuning in to a beauty channel regularly.


Our most viewed beauty videos? The smokey eye how-to comes up top, while ‘contouring,’ ‘highlighting’, ‘fancy dress make-up’ and ‘eyebrow pencilling’ follow closely behind, in that order.


Good news for the beauty industry you would have thought? Well, not exactly. While the commercial value is undeniable (38 per cent of women in the UK said they would buy products featured in the video), the production monopoly lies firmly in the shaky camera hands of the independent bloggers.
